It was a day that had a little bit of ‘All Kinds Of Everything’. from the actual games themselves to some after match activities that gave new meaning to the ‘playing with fire’ metaphor! The Donegal Town 2nds got proceedings underway in their game with Letterkenny 2nds. It was a close encounter with the home side applying huge amounts of pressure in a first half that saw them hit the lead. It was a lead they were to hold until 10 mins from the end when double sin-bin problems left them without two key players and Letterkenny ran in two conveted tries to claim victory by 20-12 in this County Donegal derby. Not an easy pill for the home side to swallow but they can take a lot of heart from their performance overall in a game they never deserved to lose.CLICK HERE FOR THE PICTURES COURTESY OF DONEGAL TOWN RFC DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY SERVICES
The second fixture of the day saw the Donegal Town 1sts put 51 pts on Belfast High School Former Pupils who replied with 25 points of their own in a game which was no way as one-sided as the scoreline might suggest with both sides going in level at 10 points apiece. The second half was a completely different affair and following a couple of well taken tries the flood gates opened and vitory flowed the way of the homeside on a record breaking day for the Donegal Town RFC scrumhalf Pete-so Cannon who added a new page of history to the annals of the club by becoming the first Senior player to break the 30 points -in-one-game-mark, eclipsing the previous highest score of 28 by a comfortable 4 pt margin. It was a great result under great conditions for the hometeam. Gareth McMurray added two great tries of his own with Donagh O Callaghan, Joe Kennedy and Shane Gillespie adding one each. There were strong performances all round the pitch but the day belonged to Donegal..
