THIS WEEK
With the 1st XV having a free Saturday last weekend unfortunately both the 2nd & 3rd XVs games fell foul of the horrendous weather and had to be postponed .The 1st XV get back on the Kukri Qualiying One road this weekend when they travel to Kilraughts Road to play Ballymoney (ko 2:30pm). The 1s will be keen to effect a reversal of fortune here as the Toon men have beaten them twice this season – in the Q1 game at Donaghadee and the Junior Cup in Ballymoney. The 2nd XV’s postponed game from last weekend will now take place at Donaldson Park this incoming Saturday with a 1:00pm kick-off in order to let the players see the Ireland v Wales game which takes place at Lansdowne Road later in the afternoon. The 3rd XV have no scheduled game at the moment.
SIX NATIONS
Players and members are reminded that a selection of the 2014 Six Nations games are being shown in the Clubhouse over the next few weeks – keep an eye on the Club Facebook, Twitter and Website for further details.
NIGHT AT THE RACES
Following a number of enquiries concerning the Donaghadee RFC event on Saturday 22nd March 2014 at La Mon Hotel & Country Club some more detail concerning the function is set out below:
• This event is targeted at couples and although a ‘Night at the Races Event’ the evening has something for everyone to enjoy – Trip down Memory Lane -Food – Auction – Dancing and more.
• If you have been lucky enough to have been invited along to a table as a guest please show your support by purchasing a horse to race at the event. This is an important part of the night not only for fundraising but to create some friendly banter on the night as we cheer each other’s horses on – or not! Horses are £20 each – prizes for race winners.
• There are only four tables yet to be sold for this 200 seat event so if you are interested in a table or even a couple of seats please don’t delay in confirming your interest. Tables are £250 and seats £25 per person.
• As per above dinner will be part of the format.
This event promises to be a great night’s fun as well as a significant fundraiser for the Club however it relies on Club members’ generous support. With only 7 weeks to go your early support would be much appreciated so organisers can concentrate on making this a night to remember.
If you would like to reserve a place/table or purchase a horse please contact Jonathan Martindale, Chris Good, Paul Blewitt, Bill Allen or Niall Moraghan.
