Donaghadee welcome Dromore to Donaldson Park in first Q1 game of the season…..
Gone are the days when Clubs had a few friendly matches in September and maybe the first competitive game in the last Saturday of the same month or maybe even early October – nowadays Club 1st XVs (certainly in Q1 and above) have to hit the ground running in August… yes that’s right AUGUST!! The Dee open their league campaign next Saturday with a home game against old friends and rivals Dromore (ko 2:30pm). The Barban Hill side have had an excellent pre-season winning four out of four friendlies with scalps including Enniskillen and last year’s joint Towns Cup winners Ballyclare! The Dee themselves will be buoyed by their winning of the Limavady Pre-Season Tournament and will be anxious to both display the fruits of their hard work on the training paddock over the last couple of months and to have a look at some of the plethora summer signings in the extremely competitive arena of Q1 rugby. Honours between the two clubs finished even last year with each winning the away fixture so a very interesting tussle awaits!
