Monday and Midweek saw a number of postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ competition games take place.
On Monday 25th Belfast High School played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in the quarter-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate. The Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team won the game by 31-15 and will now play Methodist College, Belfast in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate.
Down High School 3rdxv played Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv in their postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate Preliminary Round game. The Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv won the game by 33-10. The Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv will now entertain Ballyclare High School 3rdxv in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate.
On Wednesday 26th February Belfast High School played Banbridge Academy in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl. The Banbridge Academy team won the game by 27-20 and will now play Dromore High School in the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl.
The Belfast High Schools points came through tries from Sam Dennis, Eddie Gorrod and James Cruickshank to which Aaron Douglas added one conversion as well as one penalty.
Banbridge Academy scored tries through Adam Hanna, Dovydas Liutvinas and Harry Patterson. Harry was also successful with three conversions as well as two penalties.
Cambridge House Grammar School met Campbell College, Belfast in their postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Subsidiary Shield 1/4 Final game. The Campbell College, Belfast team won the game by 17-12 and will now play Coleraine Grammar School in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Subsidiary Shield.
The Cambridge House Grammar School team scored two tries through Rhys Ervine, who converted his try, and Adan Brannigan.
The Campbell College, Belfast points came through tries from Dara Gaskin and Luke Collins with one penalty and two conversions from Jack Bonner.
Our Lady and St Patrick’s College, Knock played Larne Grammar School in their previously postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Trophy semi-final game. The Larne Grammar School team emerged from this game as 45-3 winners and will now play Royal School, Dungannon in the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Trophy at Rainey Endowed School on Wednesday 4th March.
The Our Lady and St Patrick’s College team scored their points through a Thomas McDevitt penalty.
The Larne Grammar School team scored seven tries with Steven Dickie touching down for two, and Jack Moore, Caelan Campbell, Euan Glenn, Jack Withers and Tre Britton each scoring one. Euan Glenn added five successful conversions.
Royal School, Armagh played Royal Belfast Academical Institution in their postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup semi-final. The Royal Belfast Academical Institution 2ndxv team won the game by 14-10 and, as winners, will now play Methodist College, Belfast 2ndxv in the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup.
Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv played Methodist College, Belfast 3rdxv in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup. Following a very close game it was the Methodist College, Belfast team that emerged as 17-15 winners.
On Friday 28th February Ballymena Academy 3rdxv played Methodist College, Belfast 4thxv in the second semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup. The Ballymena Academy team won the game by 27-5 and will now play Methodist College, 3rdxv in the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup. That game will take place at the Belfast Royal Academy playing fields at Roughfort on Saturday 7th March.
On Saturday 29th February in the semi-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv played Ballyclare High School 3rdxv in a game the Ballyclare High School team won by 37-15
In the second semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate Wallace High School 3rdxv played Royal Belfast Academical Institution 5thxv in a game the Royal Belfast Academical Institution team won by 22-19.
There were three Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ finals played on Saturday 29th as well as two Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield semi-finals and one Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate semi-final.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy Final Regent House School defeated Friends’ School, Lisburn by 24-22.
Both teams would like to thank Grosvenor Grammar School for hosting the game and Chris Webster for making the post-match presentations.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl Final Down High School defeated Ballyclare High School by 13-6.
Both teams would like to thank Wellington College, Belfast for hosting the game and Sir Nigel Hamilton for making the post-match presentations.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy Final Cambridge House Grammar School defeated Banbridge Academy by 10-8.
Both teams would like to thank Friends’ School, Lisburn for hosting the final and John McKibbin for making the post-match presentations.
In the first of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield semi-finals Belfast Royal Academy played Campbell College, Belfast in a game the Campbell College, Belfast team won by 31-5.
Both teams would like to thank Royal Belfast Academical Institution for the use of facilities and hosting the game.
In the second of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield semi-finals Royal School, Armagh played Royal Belfast Academical Institution in a game in a closely contested game the Royal Belfast Academical Institution team won by 12-7.
Both teams would like to thank Wallace High School for the use of facilities and hosting the game.
The final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield will see Campbell College, Belfast play Royal Belfast Academical Institution at the Kingspan Stadium on Tuesday 10th March.
In the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate Coleraine Grammar School played Dromore High School in a game the Dromore High School team won by 22-14.
Meanwhile, the second semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate featuring Enniskillen Royal Grammar School and Methodist College, Belfast was postponed. The replay is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 3rd March.
