Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 5th February 2022

On Tuesday 1st February Strabane Academy hosted Omagh Academy in the first of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy semi-final games.
This Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy semi-final game ended with Omagh Academy recording a 43-19 victory.
On Wednesday 2nd February Belfast High School played Dalriada School in their postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl quarter-final game.
The Belfast High School team won the game by 25-12 and will now play Grosvenor Grammar School at home on/before Saturday 12th February in the semi-final of this competition.
The Belfast High School team scored four tries through Jack Norton, Alex Montgomery, Cameron Banford and Adam Bennett. Cameron was also successful with one conversion as well as one penalty.
The Dalriada School points came through Andrew Gilmore and Hugo Clarke with one conversion from Gabriel Stubbs-Carton.
Foyle and Londonderry College 2ndxv played their near neighbours from Limavady Grammar School 2ndxv in the first of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy semi-final games.
The Limavady Grammar School 2ndxv team won this closely contested semi-final by 10-5 and will now await the outcome of the second Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy semi-final featuring Dromore High School 2ndxv and Bangor Grammar School 2ndxv.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate semi-final, Coleraine Grammar School played Omagh Academy 2ndxv in a game the Coleraine Grammar School 2ndxv won by 41-10.
Royal School, Armagh hosted two Ballyclare High School teams on Wednesday 2nd February.
In the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate the Royal School, Armagh 2ndxv played Ballyclare High School 2ndxv and it was the Royal School, Armagh team team that emerged from the game as 33-25 winners.
These results mean Coleraine Grammar School will play Royal School, Armagh in the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate at the Friends’ School, Lisburn playing fields on Tuesday 22nd February.
In their postponed quarter-final game in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate the Royal School, Armagh 4thxv played Ballyclare High School 3rdxv. The Ballyclare High School 3rdxv emerged from this game as narrow 19-17 winners.
The Ballyclare High School 3rdxv will now be at home to Wallace High School 3rdxv in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate. This game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 9th February.
In the replay of their drawn Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup semi-final game Royal Belfast Academical Institution 4thxv hosted Bangor Academy 1stxv at Osborne Park.
The Royal Belfast Academical Institution 4thxv team won the game by 52-14.
At the same venue Royal Belfast Academical Institution 3rdxv played Methodist College, Belfast 3rdxv in the other semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup.
The Royal Belfast Academical Institution 3rdxv won this close encounter by 15-12 and will now play the Royal Belfast Academical Institution 4thxv in the final.
This Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup Final will take place at Osborne Park on Friday 11th February at 3-30pm.
Meanwhile, at Down High School, the Down High School 3rdxv played Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv in their postponed quarter-final game in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate.
The Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv came away from this ten try thriller having recorded a 35-29 victory.
The Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv will now play the winners of the Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv v Royal School, Armagh 3rdxv quarter-final game which is scheduled to take place on Saturday 5th February.
On Thursday 3rd February Dromore High School hosted Foyle and Londonderry College in the second semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy competition.
Dromore High School Medallion xv won this game by 26-12 and will now play Omagh Academy Medallion in the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy. This final will take place at Royal School, Dungannon on a date and time to be confirmed.
In the postponed 1/4 Final game in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv hosted Royal School, Armagh 3rdxv in a twelve try thriller which saw the Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv team emerge as 43-33 winners.
The Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv will now play Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate.
As well as the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate quarter-final game, played on Saturday 5th February, both Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup semi-final games took place on the same day.
In the semi-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2nd xv Cup Campbell College, Belfast 2ndxv played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School and won the game by 24-12.
Royal Belfast Academical Institution 2ndxv hosted their close rivals from Methodist College, Belfast 2ndxv and it was the Methodist College team that came away with a 15-8 victory.
The final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup, featuring Campbell College, Belfast 2ndxv and Methodist College, Belfast 2ndxv, will be played at a neutral venue, to be confirmed, on/before Saturday 26th February.
In the second of the semi-finals in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Trophy, scheduled for Saturday 5th February, the game involving Dromore High School 2ndxv and Bangor Grammar School 2ndxv was unavoidably postponed. Limavady Grammar School 2ndxv await the outcome of this game.
Saturday 5th February was also the date when the quarter-final games in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield and Plate competitions took place.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield quarter-finals Ballymena Academy played Regent House School and won a closely contested game by 10-7.
Belfast Royal Academy played Campbell College, Belfast and the Campbell College team won the game by 17-3.
Methodist College, Belfast played Royal Belfast Academical Institution and it was the Royal Belfast Academical Institution team that impressed with their 42-5 victory.
Royal School, Armagh played Wallace High School and recorded a hard-earned 19-7 win.
In the quarter-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate Ballyclare High School played Rainey Endowed School and it was the Rainey Endowed School team that came away with a 33-12 victory.
The Dalriada School game against Larne Grammar School was unavoidably postponed until Tuesday 8th February
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School played Sullivan Upper School and the Sullivan Upper team recorded a 20-7 win.
Friends’ School, Lisburn played Down High School and the Down High School team won the game by 19-13.
Once the results of these Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield and Plate quarter-final games were known the draws for the semi-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield and Plate semi-finals were made.

The second of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield semi-finals, featuring Royal School, Armagh and Ballymena Academy, will take place at Friends’ School, Lisburn on Saturday 26th February at 10-30am.
The winners of Game No1, involving Royal Belfast Academical Institution and Campbell College, Belfast, will use the Ulster Home Changing Room at the Kingspan Stadium on Tuesday 8th March-the day of the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield

The semi-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl competition took place on Saturday 5th February when two local “Derby” games were played.
Coleraine Grammar School played Limavady Grammar School in a game the Limavady Grammar School team won by 14-0
Banbridge Academy played Portadown College and recorded a 17-7 victory.
The final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl, featuring Limavady Grammar School and Banbridge Academy, will take place at Ballymena Academy on/before Saturday 26th February.
