Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 4th November 2017
With most schools still enjoying the half term break very few fixtures were played on Saturday 4th November.
Cambridge House hosted Regent House School in a very closely contested game from which the Regent House team emerged as 14-11 winners. Robbie Johnston made a timely return from injury for the Regent House team and his presence proved decisive in the final outcome of the game. Stuart Martin scored one try for the Regent House team with Robbie scoring a second try as well as adding two conversions.
The Cambridge House points came from one Tom Wharry try and two Sam Millar penalties.
Portadown College played Wallace High School in a game the Wallace High School team won by 32-17. The Wallace High School team controlled both territory and possession in the first half of the game with the Portadown College team controlling most aspects of the game in the second half.
David Kilpatrick, Neil Robinson, Jack Peters, James Dillon, Bertie Smyth and Sam Cardosi each scored a try for the Wallace team with Luke Nelmes adding one conversion.
The Portadown College points came through two tries from Brett Flack and one from Dylan Nelson. Adam Speers was successful with one conversion.
Methodist College, Belfast made the long journey to Cashel in County Tipperary where they took on the might of the famous Munster school, Rockwell College. The Cashel based team had built up a 10-0 lead by the break before the Methodist College team displayed a great deal of bouncebackability in the second halfand went on to win the game by 14-10.
The Rockwell points in the first half came through Jake Flannery who scored a converted try as well as a penalty.
Thomas Armstrong and Ethan McIlroy scored second half tries for the Methodist College team, both of which were converted by Ethan, to secure the hard earned 14-10 victory.
