Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 15th February 2014.

Quite a few 2nd and 3rdxv Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup/Plate games were played in the course of the week beginning 19th February.

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup results were as follows:-

Banbridge Academy 22 Rainey Endowed School 17
Royal Belfast Academical Institution 48 Belfast Royal Academy 0
Portora Royal School 0 Sullivan Upper School 45
Royal School, Dungannon 7 Down High School 51
Foyle and Londonderry College 0 Ballymena Academy 39

The game involving Wellington College, Belfast and Campbell College, Belfast was postponed due to the inclement weather conditions.

The draw for the next stage of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Competitions took place at the Royal School, Armagh. The results of the draws are as follows:-

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl Semi-Final, Lurgan College and Belfast High School drew 12-12.The Royal School, Armagh v Bangor Grammar School game was postponed. The results of the replay game and the postponed game in this competition must be finalised by Tuesday 25th February.

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy competition Rainey Endowed School defeated Strabane Academy by 48-8.

There were no 1stxv games played on Saturday 15th February but all the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield Quarter-Final games took place.

It was the power of the RBAI pack that laid the foundations for their 37-0 win in this game. Team captain, Michael Lowry, was able to control the game by using the quality possession he was receiving very effectively. The Belfast Inst team scored tries through Ian Cuthbertson, who touched down twice, Robbie Mairs, Michael Lowry and Ethan Field. James Hume and Sam Fryers added the remaining points with their trusty boots!

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate competition the results were as follows:-

Dromore High School v Coleraine Academical Institution (Postponed)
Omagh Academy v Dalriada School (Postponed)

Following these games the draws for the semi-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield and Medallion Plate competitions took place. The draws were conducted by Mr Stephen Black, Principals’ Representative on the Ulster Branch, IRFU and Mr Stephen Barr, Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield Competition Co-Ordinator.

These games are scheduled to take place on Saturday 1st March and will be played at neutral venues (TBC)

These games are scheduled to take place on Saturday 1st March and will be played at the home pitch of the first team drawn out.
