Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 10th February 2018
On Tuesday 6th February Limavady Grammar School played Banbridge Academy in a Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl semi-final game. The Limavady Grammar School team won the game by 7-0
Omagh Academy played Bangor Grammar School at the same stage of the competition in a game the Bangor Grammar School team won by 12-7.
Limavady Grammar School will now play Bangor Grammar School in the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl competition on Saturday 24th February. This game will take place at the Belfast Royal Academy playing fields at Roughfort at 10-30am.
Omagh Academy played Regent House Schools in their postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Bowl quarter-final game. Regent House won the game by 12-10. This was a very closely contested game with both teams scoring an unconverted try in the first half. Ryan Armstrong touched down for the Omagh Academy try with Ethan McFerran scoring for the Regent House School team.
The second half saw Matthew Foster score a try for the Regent team with Robbie Johnston adding the conversion. Jake McCay scored for the Omagh Academy team to leave the final score reading 12-10 in favour of the Regent House team.
On Wednesday 7th February Methodist College, Belfast 2ndxv played Campbell College, Belfast 2ndxv in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup. The game finished as a 17-17 draw and will be replayed as soon as possible.
Wallace High School 2ndxv played Ballymena Academy 2ndxv in the quarter-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup. Wallace High School won the game by 32-14 and will now play the Royal Belfast Academical Institution 2ndxv in the semi-final.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School 3rdxv played Methodist College, Belfast 5thxv in a postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup game. The Enniskillen Royal Grammar School team won the game by 60-0.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate quarter-final Sullivan Upper School played Banbridge Academy in a game the Sullivan Upper team won by 41-0.
On Thursday 8th February Friends’ School, Lisburn were scheduled to have played Carrickfergus Grammar School in the one remaining Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy semi-final. Due to circumstances beyond the control of both schools this game was postponed and will be re-scheduled.
Methodist College, Belfast 4thxv played Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv in the quarter-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup. Methodist College, Belfast 4thxv won the game by 29-20.
Bangor Grammar School played Coleraine Grammar School in the replay of their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate game. The Coleraine Grammar School team won the game by 10-3 and will now travel to play Omagh Academy in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate.
On Friday 9th February Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv was scheduled to play Carndonagh Community College in a Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Plate quarter-final game. Unfortunately, this game was postponed due to the prevailing weather conditions.
Friends’ School, Lisburn were scheduled to play Portadown College in the semi-final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate. This game was also postponed due to the prevailing weather conditions.
On Saturday 10the February there were four Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield quarter-final games played.
Ballymena Academy defeated Belfast Royal Academy by 44-0, Campbell College, Belfast defeated Coleraine Grammar School by 47-0, Enniskillen Royal Grammar School defeated Wallace High School by 14-5 and Royal Belfast Academical Institution lost to Methodist College, Belfast 14-13
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Plate quarter-finals
Ballyclare High School lost to Rainey Endowed School by 15-7, Regent House School defeated Down High School by 19-12, Royal School, Armagh played Dromore High School in a game the Royal School, Armagh team won by 22-10 and Sullivan Upper School defeated Grosvenor Grammar School by 22-12.
When the results of these games were known the draws for the semi-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield and Plate were made.
