Dankse Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 13th January 2018
On Tuesday 9th January Banbridge Academy played Dromore High School in a Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield game. This game ended in a 21-12 victory for the Dromore High School team.
On Wednesday 10th January there were four Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup games played.
Belfast Royal Academy hosted Ballymena Academy in a closely contested game the Ballymena Academy team won by 14-13. Sullivan Upper played Down High School and won the game by 20-18. Royal School, Dungannon lost by 59-12v against the Royal Belfast Academical Institution 2ndxv. Limavady Grammar School travelled to play the Rainey Endowed School 2ndxv at the Meadowbank Stadium in a game the Rainey Endowed School team won by 47-0.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate Belfast High School played Coleraine Grammar School in a game the Coleraine Grammar School team won by 34-5.
In another Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate game Dalriada overcame Dromore High School.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’3rdxv Cup Royal Belfast Academical Institution Colts played the Royal School, Armagh 4thxv team. The Royal Belfast Academical Institution team won the game by 34-7.
On Friday 12th January Omagh Academy played Cambridge House in their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate game at the Meadowbank Stadium in Magherafelt. Omagh Academy won the game by 62-0.
On Saturday 13th quite a few Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield, Medallion Trophy, 2ndxv Plate and 3rdxv Cup matches took place.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield Wellington College, Belfast played Ballyclare High School in a game the Ballyclare High School team won by 34-12.
Belfast High School played Down High School in a game the Down High School team won by 21-15.
Bangor Grammar School played Sullivan Upper School and won the game by 12-10
Rainey Endowed School played Cambridge House Grammar School and won the game by 15-10.
Omagh Academy were scheduled to play Royal School, Armagh but the game was postponed due to unplayable pitches at Campsie.
Limavady Grammar School played Regent House School in a closely contested game the Regent House School team won by 14-10.
Grosvenor Grammar School defeated the Royal School, Dungannon team by 10-3 when the teams met at the Cameronian Drive venue.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy Larne Grammar School played Dalriada School in a game the Larne Grammar School team won by 10-0.
The Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy Round 1 game, featuring Our Lady and St Patrick’s, College, Knock has been re-scheduled for Tuesday 16th January.
Following the results coming through from the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield Round 3 games the draws were made for the 4th Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’Medallion Shield and the quarter-finals of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Bowl and Trophy games.

In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Plate Strabane Academy hosted Portadown College in a game the Portadown College team won by 22-17.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup Campbell College 3rdxv played Rainey Endowed School 3rdxv in a game the Campbell College team won by 15-3.
Royal Belfast Academical Institution 3rdxv played Ballyclare High School 3rdxv and won the game by 46-0.
As well as the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ competition games there were a few 1stxv friendly games played on Saturday 13th January.
Coleraine Grammar School hosted the Royal School, Armagh team in a game the Royal School, Armagh team won by 41-17. The Armagh team had built up a 22-7 lead by the break through Jude Roberts, Nicholas Jennings, Charlie Worth and Zac Thompson. Benji Boys added one conversion. The Coleraine Grammar School points came from an Andrew White try which was converted by Pierce Crowe.
The RS Armagh team scored three more tries in the second half through Jack Treanor, Ryan O’Neill and Michael Campbell. Benji Boyd was successful with two conversions. The Coleraine points in the second half came through two unconverted tries from Mark Lamont and Oscar Egan.
Campbell College hosted the Clongowes Wood College from Naas in a game the Clongowes team won by 28-15. The Clongowes Wood College team scored four converted tries in the course of the game.
The Campbell College points came through tries from Oscar Yandall and Jamie Macartney. Conor Rankin added one conversion as well as a penalty.
Dalriada School defeated Friends’ School, Lisburn by 24-14 in an entertaining game in Ballymoney. Henry Ross, Paddy Carson, Jack Murdoch and James McCormick each scored a try for the Dalriada team with James adding one conversion and Matthew Kennedy another.
The Friends’ School points came through tries from Bradley Mulholland and Reece Malone. Reece was successful with both conversions.
The Royal School, Dungannon team played out 3×20 minutes training games against Banbridge Academy. When the game went “live” in the final session the Royal School, Dungannon team scored three tries through Luke McMullan, Jono Shrestha and Dylan Burton.
Alex Shannon and Adam Hanna impressed for the Banbridge Academy team in the course of the three sessions.
The game involving Enniskillen Royal Grammar School and Omagh Academy was cancelled due to unplayable pitch conditions.
Methodist College played Blackrock College in a game the Blackrock College team won by 20-12. The Blackrock College team scored two goals and two penalties in the course of the game.
The Methodist College points came through tries from Jonah Bingham and Samuel Bernard with Ethan McIlroy adding one conversion.
Wallace High School defeated the Blackrock College “House” xv by 34-0 when the teams met at the Clonevin Park venue. Jack Dillon, Jack Baillie, Jamie Peters, Joel Dundas and Jack Brown scored the Wallace High School tries. Nathan Doak added three conversions as well as a penalty.
