The Daily Telegraph is announced as Official Consumer Media Partner of The Sports Technology Awards
Today (5th November 2013) it was announced that The Daily Telegraph has become the Official Consumer Media Partner of The Sports Technology Awards. The Awards, which were launched in October 2013, have been established to recognize and celebrate all aspects of technology in sport, including mechanics, electronics, telephony, nutrition, software, hardware and apparel.
Rebecca Hopkins, Director of The Sports Technology Awards, explained: ‘Sport touches many millions of people globally and is big business, whether it is done for leisure or professionally. People access sport through participation, attending events or listening and viewing via a range of broadcasters; these experiences are all increasingly influenced and shaped by technology. The Daily Telegraph recognizes this and its reach and gravitas makes it a vital component of the awards. We are delighted the newspaper is a partner.’
Keith Perry, Managing Director, Sport, Telegraph Media Group, added: ‘Technological innovation and evolution have always been part of The Telegraph’s ethos. We were early adopters of technology and pride ourselves on the fact that we have led the way in the industry, across all sectors. The Sports Technology Awards are a very exciting proposition and one which will be interesting and relevant to our audience.’
The Awards have attracted the support of a wide range of industry experts including coaches Sir Clive Woodward and Dave Reddin, referees Graham Poll and Nigel Owens, elite sportspeople Tessa Sanderson, Ben Kay and Jamie Baulch as well as international sector experts from Twitter, WWE, NBA, gaming and broadcast.
The Awards are currently open for entries with the ceremony being held in central London on 4th April 2014.
