Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Round 4 Previews Saturday 3rd February 2018
There are eight Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Round 4 games scheduled for Saturday 3rd February.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School will host Ballymena Academy in a Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Round 4 game that sees two of the top eight seeded teams drawn together. The Enniskillen RGS team has made a lot of observers of the game in Ulster Schools sit up and take notice with their performances in the course of the current season. The team is coached by Rhys Botha, who receives great assistance from Ashley Finlay. These two coaches have worked very hard over the past number of seasons and the current squad of senior players at Enniskillen Royal Grammar School has benefitted greatly from their knowledge, expertise and commitment. The team captain, Jack Rutledge, has led his players with great distinction. He plays as a No 8 in a very dynamic pack and is the leading try scorer this season. His performances have attracted the attention of the Ulster Rugby Talent ID Department and he has been involved with the Ulster Schools’ U18 Development squad. He will be keen to ensure he continues to develop his ability in the course of this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign. Jack is joined in the Enniskillen RGS pack by players such as Alex Armstrong, Aaron Crawford, Jack Kennedy and Andrew Humphries all of whom have had impressive seasons. The leading points scorer on the Enniskillen RGS team is Reece Smyton who is part of a very talented Enniskillen RGS back line. The half back partnership of Ewan Haire and Robbie Mills, provides a consistent service while Reece, Craig Johnston, and Alex Holder have caused many problems for opposition defences throughout the season with the ball in hand. The Ballymena Academy defence will have to monitor all these players closely in the course of this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Round 4 game.
The Ballymena Academy team has experienced difficulties in getting games played in recent weeks. The prevailing weather conditions and teams withdrawing from scheduled games would appear to have hampered the preparation of this talented squad of Ballymena Academy players for their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign. The Ballymena Academy team is coached by the evergreen John Andrews who continues to receive advice, assistance and guidance from Gavin Murray. These members of the Ballymena Academy coaching staff can call upon the expertise of Ryan Keating and Nikki Andrews to look after the S&C aspects of work with the players. The team is captained by Joshua McAuley who was a member of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 Inter Provincial Championship winning team. Joshua has led his team with distinction this season and he would be delighted to lead the Ballymena Academy team out at the Kingspan Stadium at some stage of their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign. Joshua has a group of some very experienced players around him. Ben Savage, Oisin Jordan, Bruce Houston and Stewart Moore have been involved with the Ulster U19 squad while Bruce and Stewart were involved with the Ireland U19 Camp back in November. Stewart is the top try scorer for the Ballymena Academy team with Bruce weighing in as top points scorer. Many observers would see Bruce and Stewart as being players with a big future ahead of them and their performances in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup will be watched with interest.
This Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Round 4 game is scheduled to kick off at 11-00am.
Campbell College, Belfast will host Dalriada School in the 4th Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup. The Campbell College team has enjoyed a fair amount of success this season and, as ever, they will be aiming for strong performances in the course of their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign. The Campbell College team is coached by Neal Doak who has done a great job in developing the skills of all the players with whom he comes in contact. Neal is fortunate to have the experience of Brian Robinson and the youthful exuberance of Jonny Cupitt to assist him as he prepares this talented Campbell College squad for the challenges that lie ahead. The Campbell College team is captained by John McKee who captained the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 team to Inter-Provincial success back in September. John displayed great leadership skills during that campaign and he will be hoping to do so once again when he leads his team into this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup game. John has some very talented players in the Campbell College squad. Oisin Kiernan and Jamie Maccartney were ever present with the Ulster U19 team earlier in the season. Alongside John McKee Ben Power featured with the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 team as did Jack Stinson. As well as that the talents of players such as Oscar Yandell, Harry Owens, John Harrison and Rex Tinsley have been recognised by the Ulster Rugby Talent ID Department. However, the Campbell College top points scorer is their very talented outhalf, Conor Rankin. Conor has displayed great game management skills this season and is one of the best place kickers playing in Ulster Schools’ rugby at the minute. Dalriada will need to be disciplined as any indiscretions inside their half will be severely punished by Conor. Jamie Maccartney is the leading try scorer for the Campbell College team this season but Conor has not been far behind. The teams met at the semi-final stage of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup in 2016. In all likelihood this will be a very closely contested game as the Dalriada School team has had a very successful season to date.
The Dalriada School team got their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign of to a positive start when the defeated a very committed Dromore High School team in the previous round. They have played eighteen games and lost only three-all of which were on the road. Rab Gregg and Benji Van Der Byl form an experienced coaching team. They will be fully aware of the passionate nature of the crowd at Fox’s Field and will have prepared their charges to meet that challenge in an appropriate manner. Both coaches are very happy with the way the current season has gone. They put that down to the positive work ethic displayed by the entire squad and the fact the season has been relatively injury free. There were no major injury concerns following the game against Dromore High School. The Dalriada team captain is Curtis Pollock who leads the Dalriada team from the backrow. Luke Pollock, Ross Fallows and James McCormick are the leading try scorers on the Dalriada team this season and they will be hoping to add to their tallies on Saturday. James Currie and James McCormick are front row players who have been involved with Ulster Schools’ U16 squads while Luke Pollock and Peter Wright are exciting Dalriada backs who have been involved with Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U17 squads. Peter Wright has also achieved representative honours in athletics having run in sprint events for both Ulster and Ireland Schools. Outhalf, Paddy Carson, as well as being a fine place kicker, has played age grade cricket for Ulster and Ireland. All these players performed in a very positive manner in the game at Dromore. They will all be hoping to further enhance their sporting reputations in the course of this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game.
This Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Round 4 game is scheduled to kick off at 11-00am.
The Royal School, Dungannon team will host an in form Wallace High School team in the 4th Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup. Over the years the Royal School, Dungannon School has been a notoriously difficult place to go for any Ulster Schools’ Cup game. The current squad of players will be aware of that tradition and will set out to make life as difficult as possible for the talented Wallace High School team. The Royal School, Dungannon team got their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign of to a very positive start when the defeated the Grosvenor Grammar School team in the previous round.
It has been a good season for the Royal School, Dungannon team with the squad recording twelve out of seventeen victories. Gareth McClintock coaches the team and he receives great assistance from the experienced duo of Gareth McClintock and Richard Chambers. Team captain and flanker, Calvin Nelson, is a cousin of former RS Dungannon and current Ulster player, Peter Nelson. This is a very cohesive group of players who have displayed a great work ethic throughout the season. Their recent performances have seen confidence build among the players as they prepare for the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign. The return to play of a number of players who were unavailable earlier in the season has added to the levels of confidence running through the Royal School, Dungannon squad. Calvin Nelson is joined in a mobile RS Dungannon pack with players such as Joshua Fegan and Jono Strestha, one of their leading try scorers, who have displayed great ability in both attack and defence. The pack is relatively small but they have concentrated on technique at set piece time and give their talented back division quality possession. The foundations for the victory against the Grosvenor Grammar School team in the 3rd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup were laid by the efficiency and effectiveness of the pack. They have potentially a very exciting back line with Adam Evans and Jack Girvan displaying great game management skills at half back. The centre combination of Ben Nichols, Head Boy of the Royal School, Dungannon, and David Maxwell, is an experienced partnership. They have the ability to hit good lines as well as create space for other players around them. Luke McMullan is an exceptionally talented full back who is also an outstanding place kicker and is the top points scorer for his team this season. Both Luke and Jack have been involved with Danske Bank Ulster U18 Schools’ Development squads this season. They will be keen to display their undoubted talents in the course of this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round encounter.
The Wallace High School team has had an encouraging build up to this, their first game in the current Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign. They would be justified as seeing themselves as favourites to win this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round encounter at Royal School, Dungannon. However, the Wallace High School coach, Derek Suffern, who is assisted by Ian Latham, will instil into his players there are no easy games at this stage of the competition and, in particular, away to somewhere like Dungannon Royal. The Wallace High School captain, Sam Cardosi, leads his team by example. He has been among the leading try scorers for his team this season. Nathan Doak was a key member of the successful Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 squad and he was joined in that squad by Joel Dundas. Nathan has scored quite a few tries this season but it is his success with his kicks that has seen him rise to the top as the leading points scorer for the Wallace High School team this season. Peter McRoberts, Jack Dillon, another regular try scorer for the Wallace High School team, Ben Carson and Reuben Crothers are other Wallace High School players who have been involved with Ulster Schools’ Age Grade squads. Jamie Peters, Jack Bailie and Jack Brown are other Wallace High School players the Royal School, Dungannon defence will have to monitor closely in the course of this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game.
This Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Round 4 game is scheduled to kick off at 10-30am.
Sullivan Upper School travelled to play Belfast Royal Academy in the previous round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup. They had to work hard before coming away with a close win in that game. They are delighted to be at home in the 4th Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup but realise they will have to improve their game if they are to overcome the not insignificant challenge that Down High School will provide in that game. The Sullivan Upper School team, coached by Adam Craig, who is assisted by David Armstrong and Chris Henderson, enjoyed a successful pre-season tour to South Africa. They returned from that tour and had a great start to their season. Unfortunate injuries somewhat hampered their progress but the recent return to play of a number of major players was a major boost as their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign got underway at Belfast Royal Academy. Adam McKenna captains the Sullivan Upper team from the openside flanker position. He, alongside Tim Nart and Shay Storey, leads the Sullivan Upper try scoring statistics this season. Conor McKee, a lively scrum half, is the leading points scorer and he enjoys a deserved reputation as an excellent place kicker. Steven Moore featured on the Ulster U19 team in the course of the U19 Inter-Provincial series. He was joined in the extended Ulster U19 squad by Andrew Weir and Andrew McConnell. Thomas Leitch and George Robb have been involved with Ulster Schools’ U16 Regional Development squads while Conor McKee, Luke McCabe and Harry Baird have been involved with the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U17 squad. George Saunderson was a valued member of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 squad and he is working hard to regain full fitness following a period of rehabilitation. The Sullivan Upper School squad members all attended a training camp over the Christmas holiday period. They returned from that camp highly motivated for a successful outcome to their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign which has started well. Everyone associated with the Sullivan Upper team will be hoping this high degree of motivation will get them through this tricky Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup encounter.
The Down High School team impressed with their winning performance against Lurgan College in the 3rd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup. In what might have been a tricky encounter the Down High School team gelled well with all their players taking their responsibilities seriously. The Down High School team has recorded some impressive victories in the course of the current season and their performance against Lurgan College added to that list of wins. Coached, by Charlie Knox, who is assisted by the experienced John Gunson and Ulster player, Aaron Cairns, the Down High School team has benefitted from the S&C work undertaken by James McBriar. The players have impressed with their attacking prowess in their games this season. They will want to continue with their positive approach against the Sullivan Upper School team. The team is captained by Robin Wilson who, along with Lewis Finlay, has been the top try scorer this season. Both these players have represented the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 team and both played leading roles in the previous round. Greg Hutley is a renowned place kicker and the team’s top points scorer. He has been involved with the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U17 squad. The Sullivan Upper team, despite having beaten the Down High School team twice this season, must ensure they display great discipline throughout this game if they are not to be punished for any indescretions. The Down High School team are currently holders of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Subsidiary Shield. They will want to be in a position to challenge for somewhat different honours as this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign progresses.
This Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game is scheduled to kick off at 10-30am.
Coleraine Grammar School received a major boost when they eventually overcame Friends’ School, Lisburn in the 3rd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup. They found themselves behind at the interval in the game but took control of affairs in the second half and went on to record a comfortable victory. As the Coleraine squad prepares for their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 4th Round encounter against the Methodist College, Belfast team the players will know they will need to lead from the front if they are to have any chance of recording what many observers would see as a shock in that game. While results have not always gone their way this season the Coleraine Grammar School team might just see themselves as favourites to win this game. The Coleraine Grammar School team is coached by Richard Boyd who uses Michael Ferguson as his forward’s coach and Mikey Poskitt who works with the backs. The squad is captained by Callum Beggs and he is charge of an experienced squad of players, Vice-Captain, Max Baillie, was involved with the Ulster U19 squad earlier in the season although injury prevented him from playing in the Inter Provincial series. Max has returned to full fitness and this will be seen as a great boost for his colleagues. David Brown played on the successful Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 team and Oscar Egan, who put in an excellent “Man of the Match” performance in the previous round, was involved with that extended squad. The Coleraine Grammar School squad has three Year 12 players, nine Year 13 and eleven Year 14 players in the ranks. Their key forward players are Oscar Egan in the front row, Max Baillie in the 2nd Row and Calum Beggs and David Brown in the back row. Oscar is a technically proficient prop, Max is a real lineout target and ball carrier while Calum is a very clever player at the breakdown. David is another strong ball carrier who loves to take things forward from the base of the scrum. In the backs the key performers are the midfield trio of Pierce Crowe, Ross Moore and Andrew White. Pierce displays good game management skills and is an excellent place kicker. He is the top points scorer for the Coleraine team this season. Ross and Andrew form a very competent centre partnership which is very strong in defence and can run very strong lines in attack. They will all test the Methodist College team in the course of this eagerly anticipated Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game.
The Methodist College, Belfast team seems to be coming good at just the right time of the season. Having been beaten finalists in the 2017 Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup the current squad of players would love to put that record straight with regard to the 2018 Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup. The Methodist College team is coached by the experienced duo of Nicky Wells and Stephen Lindsay. Team captain, Matthew Neill, has seen his team win the majority of their games this season. The team has recorded some impressive victories including wins against the Portugal U19 team and Coleraine Grammar School earlier in the season. Conor Kelly is the top try scorer for the Methodist College team, this season while Ethan McIlroy has recorded most points. Ben Crangle, Kevin McNaboe, Thomas Armstrong, Robbie Armstrong, Chris Larmour, and Ethan McIlroy were all involved with the successful Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 squad earlier in the season. Samuel Bernard is another of the Methody players the Coleraine Grammar School defence will need to monitor closely in the course of this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 4th Round encounter. The team is composed of mostly Year 13 players but there is a felling in the Methody camp that this squad would be seen as a much more traditional Methodist College cup team. The Methody team will travel with six players who did not play against Coleraine Grammar School back in November. Despite this, they will know that the Coleraine team will have players returning as well. The Coleraine team will enter this contest with a very positive frame of mind and the Methodist College team will need to travel well and get a good start to this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game.
This Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game is scheduled to kick off at 11-00am.
The Royal Belfast Academical Institution team will play another of the “Top Eight” seeded teams from Ballyclare High School in the 4th Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup. The teams met at the same stage of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup last season. The Royal Belfast Academical Institution team are the current holders of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup and have held the cup for the past three seasons. They are determined to make if “Four in a Row” come March 19th!! Team coach, Dan Soper, who continues to receive assistance from Richard Hedley with coaching responsibilities, can call upon the expertise of Gavin Noble as Physiotherapist, Mike Bentley who looks after the S&C aspects of team preparation and Andrew Douglas in the critical role as Team Manager. The Royal Belfast Academical Institution team captain is David McCann who has the experienced Niall Armstrong to assist him as Vice- Captain. The team has been undefeated so far this season against teams from schools in Ulster. David McCann and Angus Adair were vital members of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 team and both have attended Ireland Schools’ U18 Camps. Robin McIlveen was also involved with the U18 Schools’ team and, but for injury, would have attended the Ireland Schools’ Camps. The return to play of Robin is seen as a major boost to the Belfast Inst squad. Niall Armstrong and David Lyttle, both of whom were involved with the Ulster U19 team, have two Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Winners medals already. They would both be very keen to ensure they secure their third medals come March. A successful tour to New Zealand last summer, as well as a post -Christmas training camp, would appear to have set the current squad Belfast Inst squad up for a more than realistic challenge for Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup honours this season. Despite having recorded a 38-10 victory against Ballyclare High School earlier in the season the Royal Belfast Academical Institution players and staff will leave nothing to chance as they prepare for this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game.
The Ballyclare High School team feel they did not do themselves justice when they played the Royal Belfast Academical Institution team at the same stage of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup last season. Director of Rugby and Head Coach at Ballyclre High School, Michael-Orchin McKeever, is assisted in his coaching duties by former Ulster player and Past Pupil of the School, Ricky Lutton, Gary Clotworthy and Gareth Lenaghan while Lucy Gault continues to provide a vital service as team physiotherapist. The team is captained by Josh Young who played with the Ulster U19 team earlier in the season. James Nelson was involved with the successful Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 squadwhile Adam Campbell and Jack Gamble are currently working within the Ulster Schools’ Age Grade Development squads. Josh Cowan, Ross Patterson and Adam Campbell lead the try scoring stakes at Ballyclare High School with Josh Cowan heading the points scoring list. The Ballyclare High School team has had a successful season thus far. The foundations for that success have been laid by their very mobile pack of forwards. It is a large and mature pack consisting of mainly Year 14 players. If they can get sufficient quality possession against the Belfast Inst team then the Ballyclare back division, with players such as Ross Patterson, Ross Herron, Adam Clarke, Josh Cowan, Matthew McCullough, Ewan Wasson and Stu Hull on board, will be more than capable of asking questions of the Royal Belfast Academical Institution defence. The Ballyclare High School squad believe they have the potential to cause a major upset as they prepare for this intriguing Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round encounter.
This Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game is scheduled to kick off at 10-45am.
The Bangor Grammar School team has had two games to prepare for their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game against Rainey Endowed School. They had to travel to Omagh where they drew in the first game of their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign before winning the replay in Bangor. The Bangor Grammar School team contains a lot of talented players in their ranks. Coached by Jason Morgan, the Bangor Grammar School team is captained by Zach Kerr. Zach was involved with the Ulster U19 team during their Inter-Provincial series of games earlier in the season. Alongside Zach, in a very talented Bangor Grammar School back line, is Aaron Sexton. Aaron played with an Ireland U18 squad last season and is in line for Ireland Schools’ U18 honours this season. He played a leading role in the success of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 team during their Inter-Provincial series earlier in the season. Whilst Aaron has gained most of his representative rugby honours as a winger he has also featured in the centre for the Bangor Grammar School team and might even be seen playing at outhalf in the course of the current Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign. Aaron is also a Commonwealth Youth Games Gold Medal sprint champion and he will need to be monitored closely by the Rainey Endowed School defence. Both Zach and Aaron are the leading try scorers for the Bangor Grammar School team this season. They played leading roles in the victory gained by the Bangor Grammar School team in the replay game against Omagh Academy. Interestingly, both Zach’s father, Chris, and Aaron’s father Roger, played in the last Bangor Grammar School team to have won the Ulster Schools’ Cup back in 1988. How the sons would love to emulate the success of the fathers thirty years on!! Ben McCrossan was involved with the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 team earlier in the season while Gareth Bell and Riley Westwood have been involved with U17 Ulster Schools’ Development squads. Daniel Young is a very effective full back who is also a very fine place kicker. This Bangor Grammar School team feels this could be their year and will be going all-out to continue their good start to this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign.
Rainey Endowed School played their second Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup fixture at home when they defeated Portadown College in a typical Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup clash in the previous round.. Over the years all Rainey Endowed School teams have proven difficult to beat at home in the Ulster Schools’ Cup and the 2017/18 squad have continued that tradition. They got off to a positive start when they defeated Belfast High School in the 2nd Round. However, this time they are on the road and will be able to rely on the experience gained having come successfully through two Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup games. The Rainey Endowed School team, coached by Chris Campbell, who receives great assistance from Jeremy Hastings and Stu McCalmond, is captained by Adam Thornton. Adam can call upon the services of some very talented players. Bryan Hall is the top try scorer and the reliable boot of Harry Evans earns him the right to be top points scorer. Bryn Davies played on the successful Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 team with David Dripps playing a leading role in the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U17 squad. The talents of all these players shone through in the previous rounds of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup. Bryn Davies, in particular, impressed with his fine performances which have seen him score a number of tries in the course of those games. Karl Warner, Jack Bresland and Ciaran Doyle have all scored tries in the course of those games as well and they will be hoping for more of the same when they meet the Bangor Grammar School team in the 4th Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup.
This Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game is scheduled to kick off at 11-00am.
The Cambridge House Grammar School team has successfully overcome the challenges provided by Banbridge Academy and Regent House in the course of their current Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign. They find themselves deservedly in the 4th Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup and this time with their third home draw of the competition against one of the seeded teams from the Royal School, Armagh. The Cambridge House team, coached by John Nicholl, who receives great assistance from Chris Smyth, Adrian Hamilton, Stephen Mulholland, Jamie Smyth and Josh McIlroy, will take a positive outlook into their 4th Round Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup game against a very talented Royal School, Armagh team as they have recorded some impressive victories in the course of the season so far. The team captain is captained by No 8, Jack Wilson, who is also their leading try scorer. He leads a relatively young squad of players with ten Year 12 starters in the ranks. Jack has led his team to eleven wins, one draw and eight losses thus far this season. He will be encouraging his players to display confidence in their abilities and go all for the win in this game. Sam Millar is the top points scorer for the Cambridge House team and the Royal School, Armagh team will need to be disciplined if they are to deny Sam the opportunity to display his kicking skills. Curtis Henry is a young player who has caught the eyes of the Ulster Rugby Talent ID Department and his progress will be monitored closely. Kane McIlroy, Peter Munce, Andrew Wilson and Rhys Ervine are other Cambridge House players who have been among the try scorers this season. They will see this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game as an opportunity to add some more tries against their names.
The Royal School, Armagh team has experienced a very successful season in terms of some very positive results gained in the lead up to the start of their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign. The Royal School, Armagh team is coached by Willie Faloon and Chris Parker who are assisted by James McCall. If any sage wisdom or advice is required from a more experienced source then Kenny Hooks is never far away to assist in whatever way he can. The team is captained by Jack Treanor who has led by example throughout the season. Jack, alongside the experienced Nicholas Jennings and Zac Thompson, is one of the leading try scorers on the RS Armagh team. Zac is also the top points scorer who has had an outstanding season with his trusty boot. Matthew Reaney, as well as being a vital cog in the RS Armagh team, is Head Boy in the school. This Armagh team is a very competent team who play the game in a very positive way. They have scored a lot of tries in their games this season and will hope to add to that number in the course of their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup campaign. Ryan O’Neill and Nicholas Jennings were members of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U18 Inter-Provincial winning team earlier in the season. Jonny Agnew, Jude Roberts and Charlie Worth are involved with the U17 Schools’ Development group while Josh King has been involved at U16 Ulster level. Charlie Worth and Benji Boyd have become established as a very positive half back pairing and the Cambridge House defence will need to monitor all these players closely. There is the possibility of the Royal School, Armagh squad having three sets of brothers in their match day 23. Samuel and Josh King, Daniel and Jayson Denley and Callum and Chris Whiteside will all be hoping to be selected for this Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game.
This Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup 4th Round game is scheduled to kick off at 10-30am.
