Cookstown played host to the Donegal side at Mid-Ulster Sports Arena for the return fixture in the Magners League. The home side started strong and pressured the game line for the opening 20 minutes but were growing frustrated as the couldn’t find away through the strong defence which soon won a penalty for an offside infringement taking the away side in to Cookstown’s half for first time in the game but would capitalise on a good line out and caught the home sides defence sleeping to go over in the corner. This seemed to give the home side a bit of urgency and soon found themselves in the away sides 22 and after a few forward phases with good ball carrying from the back rows and clearing out from rest pack soon created a space for the backs to stretch the defence and send O’Neill over in corner to level things before half time. Cookstown looking to keep their title hunt alive knew nothing less than a win would do and continued to try in put phases together but were struggling to get a grip on game and away sides impressive defence kept them at bay with time ticking away Cookstown had looked to of blown opportunity to close on the top of the league but with 5 minutes to go Stinson made a good break to offload to a supporting Devlin to score under posts and for O’neill to add the extras to see Cookstown continue there unbeaten run having not been beaten in league since last August.
