Andy Breens second string continue to enjoy a good opening to the season. by Bob Beatty
A seasoned group of former 1st xv players are now bolstering the ranks of the 2nd xv
This along with the rising young talent that the club continues to produce is forming a very formidable looking outfit.
One of those talents, hooker Cobain, helped himself to a hatrick as the game progressed. Stewart Wilson returned to the fray after a lengthy period out and was the stand out performer controlling proceedings from the 10 spot. As reward he helped himself to a brace of tries and not to be outdone his brother Ryan matched the feat with a brace of his own.
Ali Breen scored his customary try and Ian Mulligan, fresh out of the u19s, crossed the line for what is becoming a habit for this talented individual. Lee Carruth the 3rd xv captain thought he was having a Saturday off but got a late call up and caught the try bug with a fine effort of his own.
Stewart Wilson added a penalty and six conversions to take his personal tally to 25 points for the day.
Next Saturday the 2nd s play Larne 2nds at the ‘Cran’, kick off at 2.30. Who will be the next to come out of retirement we wonder?
