City of Derry of Derry Rugby Club is running a Summer Camp during the first in July which will accommodate the age group from 6yrs old to 12 year olds. The Summer Camps will be run at St Mary’s College, Northland Road which has outstanding Indoor as well as Outdoor facilities. City of Derry has found in the past that with the possibility of inclement weather and the age profile of the younger children, indoor facilities if needed were a must for a successful camp.
St Mary’s College new school on the Northland Road has state of the art sports facilities. They include an impressive Sports Hall and Outdoor playing fields including a full size Astro Pitch, Running Track, Tennis and Netball Courts that enable participation in a wide range of sporting activities.
City of Derry Rugby Club will use all these facilities to deliver a program of events for this age group that will target each child’s development needs and it will be both challenging and enjoyable. City of Derry sees these Summer Camps as a great opportunity to reinforce and extend the fundamental skills and movement introduced by all our qualified coaches from the Mini Rugby Section through the Youth Section of the club during the rugby season.
The Camps will be delivered by professional Physical Education Teachers Bevan Lynch (Head Coach at City of Derry RFC). He will be helped by other qualified coaches from within the club. The model will run from Monday 4th to Friday 8th July and it will be for boys and girls from 6yr olds to 12yr olds. The sessions will run from 9am to 3pm daily with drop off from 8.30am and pickup until 3.30pm. The cost of the course per week will be £60 for the first child and £40 for a second child.
