CCRO IN OPERATION AT DONAGHADEE ONCE AGAIN THIS SEASON
Donaghadee RFC are delighted to announce that they have once again secured the support of the IRFU (Ulster Branch) in the provision of a Club & Community Rugby Officer (CCRO) for the incoming season. Guy McManus will fill the post once more and is keen to carry on the work started last season with schools and children throughout the area. Guy has extensive experience in youth and mini rugby coaching having been involved in the DRFC Mini set-up for some years and also gained the appropriate coaching accreditation via the IRFU (Ulster Branch). His CCRO role is to work with local schools and other community groups to encourage rugby in the Ards & North Down area and to help grow the skills of those who are already playing the game and one pleasing aspect this season is that the renewed support has also made provision for an increase of 50% in the number of hours that our CCRO will be out and about in the schools and beyond. During his first season in the role Guy enjoyed great success in the area in introducing young people of all ages to the game of rugby and in starting to build a Youth Rugby programme within the Club. Once again part of his role will be to organise rugby sampler sessions and blitzes at Donaldson Park throughout the course of this season. Although Guy is under the supervision of the IRFU (Ulster Branch) and the Club which sees him visiting many schools and community groups on an ongoing basis throughout the area he would encourage anyone or any organisation who may have “slipped the net” and are interested in the scheme to contact him as soon as possible and he can be contacted by telephone at 07711541500 and by email at guymcmanus44@hotmail.com. Alternatively email any of the Club Officers on the Donaghadee RFC website at www.donaghadee-rugby.co.uk or personal message them on the Club Facebook site and they will pass on all information to Guy.
