The first match of the season ended in a narrow defeat for Carrick who spent the majority of the match in Enniskillen’s half. Carrick came away with a point, but on reflection, both sides know it should have been more. Carrick dominated early and had Enniskillen under constant pressure. This was the pattern for most of the match which Carrick had to play with 14 men after Neil Marsden went off early in the first half. Carrick lead 6-3 until the last play of the match with Enniskillen scoring an unconverted try in the corner. Final score 8-6.
There was plenty of positives to take from the match especially the fight and determination from the boys right until the end. Carrick now look forward to welcoming Limavady next week.
The Carrick team which faced Instonians was:-
A. McIlroy; A. Moore, J. Cullen, J. Wady, A. McKinney, B. Alexander; J. Sheriff, K. Topping; A. Gibney, N. Hanna, R.Williams, C. Rodgers, A. Kincaid(Capt), N. Marsden, C. Rea, R. McGonigle
