The Maxol-sponsored Carrick 1st XV remain in the bottom third of Qualifying League, Section 2 after losing away to local rivals Ballyclare by 30 points to 13 on Saturday 13 November. The Carrick tries came from Jason Wady and Daryll Crothers while Johnny Sheriff kicked a penalty.
The Carrick 2nd XV lost away to Clogher Valley II by 26 points to 8. Carrick’s only try came from David Ferris, with Ricky Moore kicking a penalty. This was a game Carrick could have won if they had taken their chances in the first half. They paid the price in the second half as their fitness let them down towards the end of the game.
The 4th XV were awarded the points for their match against Shorts and the 5th XV won their top of the table encounter against Malone IV by 24 points to 7, keeping their unbeaten record intact. The Carrick tries came from Crag Clarke, who got two, Robert Ford and Ross Hunter who was awarded “man of the match”. Stephen Martin converted two of the tries.
The Under 19s beat Rainey by 33 points to 12. The Carrick try scorers were Ross Moore (2), Nathan Greenwood, Ryan McGonigle and Marcus Brush. Adam Kendell converted four of the tries. Joint “men of the match” were Ryan McGonigle and Marcus Brush. This was a good performance by Carrick and it extends their unbeaten run to five matches. They face a stern test this week when they face top of the League Ballyclare.
The Carrick Youth teams entertained Banbridge, with the Under 15s winning by 15 points to 10 and the Under 13s by 24 points to 12. The Under 17s lost by 53 points to 15. In a correction to last week’s results, the Carrick Under 13s in fact beat Ballynahinch by 40 points to 5.
On Sunday 14 November, the minis travelled to Ards and got a number of good wins on a lovely afternoon for rugby.
