BUSHMILLS® Irish Whiskey, yesterday hosted a unique training session at Limerick’s Thomond Park led by good friends and current international rugby stars Rory Best and Denis Leamy.

Ulster’s Rory Best and Denis Leamy, who plays for Munster, are part of the ‘BUSHMILLS Brothers – Since way back’ campaign. They put ten rugby fans through their paces at the famous rugby ground, sharing some of the high-performance training drills used by the international squad.

The training session came just two days before Munster host Ulster at Thomond Park in the last Interprovincial league match of the season.

Following the session, the rugby supporters then joined Rory and Denis at a whiskey master class, led by BUSHMILLS Irish Whiskey’s Distilling Manager Darryl McNally. He explained how BUSHMILLS Irish Whiskey is handcrafted for a smooth taste at the Old Bushmills Distillery and has been for centuries.

Rory Best said: “I have been involved in thousands of training sessions throughout my professional career, but I have never been the one giving out the instructions and standing on the sidelines!

“It was fantastic to meet these rugby fans who are all customers of BUSHMILLS Irish Whiskey, to join with my good friend Denis on his home pitch and to share something of what is involved in being a sportsperson.”

Denis Leamy added: “Rory and I have been part of the ‘BUSHMILLS Brothers –Since Way Back’ campaign for almost a year now. It is not often easy to work on something with a player from another Province – but with my friendship with Rory, it definitely works!”

Jenny Kiernan, BUSHMILLS Brand Manager, Western Europe “BUSHMILLS has always been proud to recognise timeless friendships and brotherhood, and the creativity that stems from both. ‘BUSHMILLS Brothers – Since Way Back’ gives us the opportunity to express their craft while still conveying the spirit of this reliable, warm Irish Whiskey that comes from a community that has been celebrating friendships for hundreds of years.”
