Next seasons opposition announced
After 2 very succesful seasons as league champions in minor league rugby it was decided to move the club back into the Qualifying leagues.
It was also the decision of the committee to reinstate the 2nd XV in order to maintain Armoy’s presence in the Minor League North. This was also done in an attempt to maximise the number of matches available to our players and also to atrract new members by showing the clubs ambition of playing at a higher level of rugby.
Today the 1st XV found out who their opponents would be in Qualifying 4, they are as follows. Civil Service 1st XV, Holywood 1st XV, Letterkenny 1st XV, Londonderry YM, Ophir 1st XV and Virginia 1st XV.
Each team will play each other 3 times in order to have 18 league matches each. Armoy will have 2 away trips and 1home match against Holywood,Letterkenny and Virginia, while Londonderry YM, Ophir and Civil Service face 2 visits to Limepark and 1 visit each from Armoy. The dates for these matches as well as the 2nd XV fixtures will be conirmed in early August.
New Canterbury kit has been bought for the 1st XV for next season and there is a possiblity of a new kit and sponsorship deal for the 2nd XV in the pipeline.
This is an exciting time in the developement of Armoy RFC and we would urge all members to get behind both teams in order to push the wee club forwards.
