Irish Rugby legend, David Humphries has been revealed as the guest speaker at Omagh RFC annual club dinner to be held in the pavilion at Thomas Mellon Playing Fields on Saturday night.
Currently the Ulster Rugby Director, Humphreys has recently retired after having a long and distinguished career in the No 10 shirt of Ulster and Ireland, culminating in him lifting the Heineken Cup in 1999 after a historic 21-6 win over Colomiers in a red and white decked out Lansdowne Road.
Despite numerous accolades in his playing careers, the qualified solicitor is making massive waves as Ulster manager, playing a pivotal role in the recruitment of several key personnel who have contributed massively to the development of Ulster. Current Ulster captain Johann Muller and his fellow Springboks, Ruan Pienaar, Pedrie Wannenberg, Steffan Terblanche and World Cup winning prop, Kiwi, John Afoa have all signed for the White Knights. Humpheys has also been instrumental in hiring new Ulster coach, mark Ainscombe from Auckland. Recruitment of high calibre and high potential players has been a hallmark of and direct result of Humphreys hard work, dedication and commitment to a blue print which we hope to hear more of and we hope will establish Ulster Rugby as a major force in Irish and European rugby now and for many years to come.
The dinner is served at 8pm. You can contact a member of the committee to book a place of place your name in the list at the club.
