BHSFP started brightly and opened the scoring with a penalty by Stephen Heasley. After this strong offensive start BHSFP didn’t get their defence working with any cohesion and Holywood scored 2 tries through moving the ball wide. BHSFP struck back near the end of the half using their superior scrum to push the Holywood pack over their own line for a try by Bryan McGreal.

After a half-time rollicking BHSFP pulled their game together in the 2nd half. A try by BHSFP winger Ivan Swarbrick was followed by more pressure in the Holywood 22 which unfortunately led to an intercept try for the Holywood winger. After this BHSFP knew they had to cut out the mistakes and their efforts to gain quick ball were rewarded with a yellow card for the Holywood no.6 for hands in the ruck. Both sides knew anymore ruck infringements would result in further yellow cards and this allowed BHSFP to impose their gameplan on Holywood, at one stage going thru 22 phases of play to get up into the Holywood 22. BHSFP sealed the game with tries by Donal O’Sullivan and Lord William of Cruickshank and 2nd penalty by Stephen Heasley.

In what was a very enjoyable and competitive game Holywood proved to be very gracious hosts and bhsfp.co.uk wishes them luck with their league campaign.
