On a cold day in Newtownards, BHS made a promising start to the game with the first score, when the ball was taken out wide for High School’s winger to step inside the Regent fullback shrug of a cover tackle and make it to the line. The resulting conversion was missed and they lead 5 –0. This though was to be one of the few highlights for them as from there on in Regent took control of the game. They were on level terms not long after when mistakes by BHS let Regent in to level it. The second of Regent’s try’s was very well worked when the ball came out to Regent’s No.9 who chipped a lovely ball over the BHS defence for their winger to touch down for a lead they were never to loose. From there on in BHS struggled to cope with Regents black line, with their number’s 9 and 13 having strong games getting several try’s each. CLICK HERE FOR 149 Pictures High School’s forwards competed well against the Regent pack being solid enough on their own scrumage and had a reasonable return on their lineout, but from steady set piece ball High School’s backline had nothing to trouble Regent’s backs and created very little go forward ball. BHS did get a consolation try near the end after a spell of pressure and a couple of missed opportunity’s, High School’s No.13 crossed the line for a try which was converted. Regent looked good for their win and proved to strong for BHS with their strong running patterns and will look forward to a promising run in the Schools Cup. This has been a hard season so far for High School’s young side but I’m sure they too will rise to the challenge of the fast approaching Schools Cup game.
