Cooke crushed by comeback kings

A remarkable Bangor fight-back after falling 20 points behind, secured a bonus point victory of 29-20 which now moves them up to third in the league.

The rigours of recent tough fixtures necessitated some changes in the Bangor side, with Craig Harper making a welcome return at scrum half, Desi Fusco pairing with Mike Aspley in the centre, and Adam McCusker starting on the wing in place of the rested Davy Charles. Chris Morgan moved from full-back to wing, with Mike Weir taking his place. Although some regular names were missing or on the bench, this was certainly no second string line-up, and confidence was high that the current run of good results could continue.

As the sides ran out, many of the spectators were surprised to see what looked like a return of Helen O’Reilly as referee, but closer inspection confirmed that it was just Patrick Rea on a bad hair day.

In perfect playing conditions, Cooke got the game started and from the first ruck after receiving the ball, Bangor conceded a penalty in front of their own posts.
