Our Family Fun Day, in support of the club’s tour to Italy next year, takes place on Saturday 25th August.

Top billing for the day will be the annual match between Bangor and Donaghadee for the Rodney Gray Cup. However, there will be many other attractions running throughout the day and visitors, both young and old, are warmly invited to share in the festivities.

The Cow / Donkey Dump
The Italy Tour organising committee is pleased to announce the outcome of its recent Cow Dump competition.

The Tourists who are going to Italy next year on rugby tour organised a ‘cow dump’ recently to help raise money for their trip. For those who have never heard of such a fundraiser, the basic premise is that people bought a square in a grid and wherever the cow did its business, whatever square corresponded to the poop, the square owner won the jackpot of £250.00.

But due to the resurfacing of the pitches over the summer, to maintain Upritchard Park as one of the best playing surfaces in the country, the decision was made to have the area used as the ‘dumping arena’ off site and, with the help of tourist Jamie Clegg, we cordoned off an area of his family farm for the ‘big event’.

Further problems arose when the magical cow, Daphne, chosen for the event mysteriously vanished – later a siting was confirmed upon a boat to India, the story goes she left to audition for a new Bollywood production of ‘Les Miserables’ – so at the last minute, the very able Daisy, a donkey of some repute (that’s right, a donkey), got her big break and filled the void. After 30 minutes or so we struck gold and Daisy did her business. It was just left for our mathematician, Jake ‘the Muss’ Harrison, to cross reference, check and recheck the grid, angles and length of poop were analysed, before it was finalised that Mr Victor Shaw, a colleague of Davy ‘the white Usain’ Charles at Eddie Irvines, won the jackpot!!

Thanks to all tourists, everyone who bought a ticket, the Clegg family, Daphne (she got the part) and especially Daisy for making this such a worthwhile event. Our application for Donkey Dumping is in to the Olympic committee – we hope to squeeze it in for Rio.
