Another excellent performance by Bangor 2nds overwhelmed a hard working but outclassed Banbridge 3rds to go through to the next round of the Crawford Cup, winning by 55-13.
Playing under the lights on Friday night was an accommodation for the visitors who had requested this rescheduled fixture. Given the horrible conditions the following morning, this was a good call!
Captain Ryan Meeke led out a strong side, bolstered by the welcome return of Chris Morgan, playing in the centre. It’s good to see that made a good recovery and has lost none of his pace. In fact the whole back line looked sharp and caused the visitors repeated problems as they repeatedly broke the Banbridge line with relative ease. The set pieces were controlled well, and if it hadn’t been for the quick heel by the Banbridge hooker, many of the scrums would have been turned over by the solid Bangor drive.
Having led by 29-8 at half time, Bangor simply repeated the process in the second half, finishing with a comfortable 55-13 victory.
Thanks to Craig Hompstead from Decathlon who sponsored the Kipsta match ball.
