It certainly wasn’t a ‘rainy’ day for Banbridge in Magherafelt as the 1st XV returned home with four points following a 15 – 3 win in the AIL. Bann finished the game with 14 men but had enough in reserve to claim the points. With Cashel remaining unbeaten at the top there are only 2 points separating 2nd – 5th places. Banbridge currently lie in 4th.
Meanwhile in the Conference League the 2nd XV stole the show in terms of tries scored securing another 2 points in Donegal with a 66 – 5 win. Bann remain unbeaten in this league and with this win replace Donegal at the top of the league.
Bann 4th XV ground out a 16 – 9 home win over Academy 2nds. Banbridge had the wind in the first half and should have been further ahead than 6 – 0 lead aforded them, courtesy of two Viljoen penalties. But they dug deep in the second half and some sound defence kept Academy out with scrumhalf Stephen Chambers getting the games only try.
Bann 5th XV lost at home to Cavan 2nds. In the last play of the game, when it seemed Bann were about to score what looked like the winning try, Cavan intercepted and the ball was ran the length of the field for the touchdown to secure the win for the visitors.
