Saturday’s (24/03/2012) Ulster Bank League fixture against Ballymena was a crucial tie for both clubs. A win would keep the league title race alive, defeat would signal the end of any realistic challenge.
Conditions were almost perfect as both sides took to the pitch, which was bathed in spring sunshine with a slight breeze blowing diagonally across the field towards the clubhouse.
Hinch played towards Slieve Croob in the first half and made the perfect start, Chris Napier charging into the visitors 22 to set up a ruck close to the Ballymena line. The quick ball was moved right where James Thompson did well to wriggle his way over from close range.
