Ballymoney 4th XV travelled to Lurgan for their second league match on Saturday 25th September. Ballymoney got off to a great start dictating the terms in the lineouts, scrummaging and loose play. The forwards set up a great platform, which allowed Aidy White to cut through Lurgan’s back line untouched to score underneath the posts. Chris McIlmoyle converted it. A few minutes later, from a similar position, James Kearney cut a beautiful line and also scored underneath the posts. John McPherson then put in a chip and chase, only to be restricted and was awarded a penalty, which was kicked into the corner. From this lineout the pack set up a drive and maul, which allowed Ricky Millar to score the third try, which was also converted by Chris McIlmoyle. Ballymoney continued to control the game in all aspects, allowing Norman Finney to go over the line on two occasions. Just before half time Keith Rankin made an exceptional break up the right wing and passed the ball to Timmy Hanna allowing him to score in the corner. This left the half time score 38-0. Ballymoney turned round against the elements, Lurgan upped their performance but were unable to cross the line, and only did so on the last play of the game and scored a try from a knock on, leaving the final score 38-5.
