Ballymena 21 Old Wesley 6
Four AIL games played, four victories, two try bonus points, only three tries conceded and top of the 2A table. Not a bad position to be in as we go into the break for the Autumn Internationals. For the second week in succession the elements played a major role in events on the field, with most of the game played in torrential rain. Ballymena scored two tries in the first half through Entwhistle and O’Hara, both converted by Small, and turned round at the break 14-6 ahead. All the team’s defensive qualties were needed for a good part of the second half, which remained scoreless until five minutes from the end, when Connor Smyth scored a try from close range, again converted by Small. The heady days of running with the ball in the sunshine seem but a distant memory.
