Ballymena Bears travelled to Finn Valley RFC, Stranola at the weekend to help start “the Errigal Eagles” a brand new club in the Donegal area catering for young people with learning difficulties.
The Bears travelled in style for the 2 hour trip with the help of an Ulster Rugby mini bus driven by Ulster Branch Disability Inclusion officer Tim Craig, arriving spot on time to set up for the session.
A fun packed time was had and new friendships formed with everyone taking part in games and a match between two teams made up of principaly Bears but also the new Eagles and even a Newforge Tagger making a welcome appearance.
The Eagles then hosted everyone in the nearby Finn Valley leisure centre with some fantastic home made soup and sandwiches a welcome fill up before the journey home.
This is definitely an exciting time for special needs tag rugby in the Province as this is now the seventh club to be formed and everything is building well for the UK National Special Needs Tag Rugby Festival which will be hosted at Ravenhill in June 2014. It would be brilliant if you were a part of it! We really would welcome both new players or helpers, see our Facebook page at Ballymena Bears or contact Ballymena RFC for more details.
