COULTER CUP COMPETITION
Last Thursday night the final event of the rugby season took place at the Cloughan with the Place-Kicking competition for the prestigious Coulter Cup. It was unfortunate that the donor of this trophy Jack Coulter known better as Ould Hand was unable to be present. Jack ,who was always present to hand over the cup each season,is presently in Hamilton House on the Ballycorr Road having moved there from his former home at Chisholm Court. He is currently recovering and would appreciate a visit from any club member.
On Thursday night there was a good entry of 19 players for the trophy including former winners and regular place kickers John Wasson,Gary Byers and Gary Clotworthy .. However the standard was not too sharp and most of the kickers were eliminated early on to leave Nial Lawther and Andrew Alexander in the final. It was Alexander who came through to win–he is the regular kicker for the 3rdXV and received the trophy at the Dinner on saturday night.
