This report covers the Thursday league finals of Ulster Tag @ Malone. But, we will bring next week our review of the tournament, picking the best pictures and moments and we will be awarding prizes for the best pictures. The prizes will not be brilliant but its just our way of saying thank you for a great experience at Ulster Tag. Intouch have really enjoyed the fun and we look forward to keeping up to date with everything we can, and we will definitely be covering the AI Finals and following the Ulster teams’ journey. There is no doubt that the standard in Ulster is very high and we should bring back silverware!
In the meantime, we attended the finals last night and got 189 photos which can be viewed on the links below. An excellent series of 8 finals took place and we got some great team shots. Its so easy to photograph and the shots are made by the genuine joy of winning! For those that did not win it is excellent to see alot stayed for the presentation afterwards and it is everyone that makes the event what it is.
The standard was excellent, and even through these were finals, there was alot of people playing their tag with a smile on there face. Great team spirit and athleticism not to mention skills. End to end stuff, again similarly to Wednesdays finals all the teams in the finals were employing all the skills. Exploiting the percentages, long passes to expose a gap on the wing, running back as a team in formation, off – loads from the guys to girls who had perfectly timed runs, little kick throughs. Maybe only a short kick through of 5 metres or so or less and the player then charging through to pick the ball from ground or on the bounce at speed!
Absolutely awesome stuff, agility, fierce will to win, but as always in rugby a genuine hand-shake at the end and time to enjoy a beer in the bar afterwards. As Willie John McBride has said, “You might want to win, but in rugby you learn how to lose aswell, and you must do this with a sense of decency and respect.”
We hope you enjoy the pictures below and you can see the league tables and Ulster Tag reports on the links below.
Hoping to bring you a report from Newforge finals shortly.
