CIYMS on a crisp Tuesday afternoon. Battle has commenced on the I XV pitch and what follows is a pure display of rugby by two schools with an immense depth of rugby talent and a bright future for both.
1st half was evenly matched, neither side were about to take any risks given a previous battle not so long ago which ended in the favour of Ashfield by a penalty in the dying minutes.
2nd half Hinch pulled away after 15-20 minutes. They were in a mood to score and two surging runs by the pack finished off by a very strong no.8 put the balance in favour of Hinch.

Ashfield to their credit mounted a sustained attack from which they scored a try later in the second half and will be asking themselves what if. Phase after phase came together very well and after a number of penalties they went over in the corner. A well worked try indeed.
Ashfield have really come along as a rugby school from 5 years ago when there was only a few players at the school to now with 4 sides and players making it to representative level.
We were able to catch up with the Ashfield coaches Tommy Finn & Stuart Markwell, with an itnerview with Tommy.
Hinch were well drilled, slick and confident. They dominated possession and when they got into their stride were unstoppable. Its all about the next game now.
Well to one and all on a throughly enjoyable game and we look forward to covering both teams moving forward.
