Armoy kept there league title aspirations in tact on Saturday with a polished performance against Inishowen at a cold , wet and very muddy Limepark. Right from the initial kick off Armoy pressed Inishowen and kept them on the back foot for long periods of play. With the conditions being less than ideal there were a few handling errors,but this was not an issue for Armoy who were bossing the scrums. It was from a scrum that Armoy scored their first try. A quick feed from the base of the scrum by veteran scrum half Tom Christie lead to a slick back move in the inishowen 22 resulting in winger Richard Bartlett running in for a score which was converted by Jarvis Traynor. It was after a further 10 minutes of controled play by Armoy that they were rewarded with a second score. This time from a scrum against the head the backs once more moved the ball through the hands to allow centre Gordon McConnaghie to break a tackle and run in for a try which was converted by Jarvis.

Into the second half and it was more of the same and after 15 minutes a series of rucks which took Armoy progessively closer to the Inishowen line the ball found it’s way to out half Barry Kelly who broke a tackle to run in under the posts for Armoy’s third try again converted by Jarvis.
It was only now that Inishowen seemed to try and force the game with a series of rumbling rucks but to no avail as they were held out by the tight Armoy defence who ensured that they never made any ground.
With 5 minutes remaining Armoy captain made a few changes one off which was the introduction of young full back Padraig Kerr for Jarvis Traynor.From A series of rucks in the inishowen half the ball was eventually fed out to the Armoy back line young Paidraig Kerr ran into the line at pace to run into the corner from the 22 for a score with his first touch of the ball. he also converted his own try from the touch line.
