Armoy travelled to a very wet muddy and cold Moss Road Carndonagh to face league leaders Inishowen .
In the first half Armoy were playing into a very strong wind and at times hail stones and the Inishowen forwards used this advantage well and successfully kept Armoy pinned back inside their own 22 for most of the first half. However for long periods Armoy held out but eventually succumbed to the relentless pressure. During the onslaught Inishowen very cleverly switched the play and created a gap for their winger to exploit and run in for an uncoverted try.
From the kick of Armoy put some pressure on the home side but it was short lived as the home side won possession and hoofed the ball deep into Armoy territory for the onslaught to begin once more.
Again the Armoy defence held firm for a long spell but like deja vu Inishowen again switched their back line for their winger to run in for another uncoverted score.
Half time Inishowen 10 – Armoy 0
The second half was much the same as the first half except Armoy were on the attack and Inishowen had to defend. Regardless of what Armoy threw at them the men from Donegal held firm. With time running out Armoy piled on the pressure but could create any clear cut chances to score. Inishowen now sensed victory was near and won possession. They showed great tactical awareness and kept the ball in the pack and set up a series of rucks to run down the clock.
Final score Inishowen 10 Armoy 0
On a day that was very cold wet and windy it would be fair to say that the home team adapted better to the conditions and took the chances that came their way and emerged victorious.
From an Armoy point of view it was a better performance than last week and captain Gareth Christie thanked all who travelled for their efforts.
As usual training is on Wednesday @ 7:30 and a lot of work is needed before we face
Ballyclare IV in the McCambley cup on 10th December.
