Following a very well attended and constructive Players Meeting last week, preparations are now well under way for the new season.
The Club will once again field four adult teams from the 1st XV to 4th XV level, together with a thriving and well organized Ladies XV.
The Players Meeting dealt with recruitment, new signings and squad development, together with the coaching and management structures for the adult sides at the Club. In addition, with the Club benefiting from the advice and experience of five strength and conditioning coaches in the shape of Johnny Wylie, Scott Young, Stephen Cole, Gareth Quinn and David Parkhill, each player was provided with a strength and conditioning course to cover the next four weeks. It is particularly encouraging to see a number of under 19 players and Regent School Boys at the meeting as these are the up and coming young players who are the immediate future of the Club. All players at the Club can benefit from gym membership which this season is being provided very competitively, by Neal Dougan of the Rack Gym, who will provide an individual assessment and design a weight building program to suit the needs of each individual.
Touch rugby continues informally each Wednesday night at the Club at 7.00 pm. Pre-season training commences on Monday 23rd July at 7.00 pm and will then continue on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7.00 pm, and on Saturday mornings at 10.00 am.
The following coaching and management structures are now in place for the incoming season:-
1st XV – Head Coach, Mervyn Tweed, Assistant Coach, Alan Benson, Backs Coach, Scott Young, Manager, Robin Johnston, and Club Physio, Kate Hayes.
2nd XV – Coach, Gary Presho, Captain, Stephen Robinson, Vice Captain, David Chivers, Manager, TBC.
