Match report ARDS U15s v STRATHAVEN
By STEPHEN NUTT | Tuesday 5th March 2013
Ards Under 15s host Scotish visitors from Strathaven..

After a stunning away win against a very good Enniskillen side on Saturday 2nd March by 27 – 32, Ards U15s entertained Strathaven RFC from Scotland on Sunday 3rd March at Hamilton Park, Lansdowne Road.

On a bright morning or as near as we get to one, the visiting team were welcomed to the club by Ards coach Ricky Sadler.

As the teams went out for their respective warm ups it was agreed that in the spirit of the game of rugby that Ards would furnish the opposition with some of its older players to help the younger members of the Strathaven 15.

The match watched by some of the good folk of Ards kicked off at twelve sharp under the control of referee Adam Cowie and turned out to be a very even affair with the Ards boys possibly suffering from the previous days exertions struggling to play their normal game.

As the half wore on the Ards boys began to break down the visitors defence and it was no surprise when after several phases the young Ardsmen broke through and Danny Mcullough burst over the line, that was the only score of the half.

After a personnel change and renewed determination second half tries from Ryan Thompson, Jordan Davenport, Rhys Hedley and Alex Gaw contributed to a good win.

Many thanks must go to Dayle Jones, Stevie Nutt, Mark the chef, Adam, Helen and all the other parents but mostly to the boys from both teams and coaching staff.

A new link has been formed between our clubs and that is certainly the major outcome of the day.
