Great day for Ards Rugby! By STEPHEN NUTT, 26th Oct 2013
No defeats for all Ards teams in action today!
Ards 1sts 20 – 14 De La Salle Palmerston
Ards 1sts make it 2 wins out 3 starts in the All Ireland League….this is the best start to an AIL season for an Ards team for some years…well done to the coaches and the players and continue to train hard, play hard and enjoy the experience!
Coleraine 0 – 23 Ards 3rds
Ballymoney 8 – 8 Ards 4th (Ards awarded league win as Ballymoney forfeited the game by not fulfilling a fixture up the club)
Ards 3rds and Ards 4ths travelled together in the ‘fun bus’ to Coleraine and Ballymoney on Saturday and both teams came away with winning points….well done to Ian Presho and Stu Stevenson organising the bus trip!
Ards Youth played a Regent House Select at Hamilton Park on Saturday morning, in a keenly fought contest Ards managed a last minute win, well done to the Ards boys and many thanks to Regent House in playing the fixture.
Both teams would have had no game and it is good to see Ards Youth Convenor Ricky Sadler and Regent House Head of Rugby Peter Lowry working together for the betterment of Youth rugby in the Ards area.
It was also good to see a number of Regent players including Jonny Harris and Mattie Neill playing against some of their old Ards mini rugby team mates such as Paddy Bond and Aaron Bittles.
onwARDS and upwARDS!
