Ards RFC Ladies Sixth training session was the location for InTouch Rugby’s latest snapshot of club rugby. The development of their rugby is happening due to themselves at a blistering pace.
We caught up with Ross Reid their coach and he said, “The speed that we are moving at is being set by the players themselves, I am delighted of course, and look forward to the development of our team.”
Ards Colin McClean encourages a potential new recruit Oonagh Duff of Abbeyvilla Soccer Club to join the club. It is an interesting point that Ladies soccer ends in September and many clubs could transfer over to rugby in their off season.
Good skills were in abundance on the night which reflects the sporting background of many players who are used to team sports, such as hockey, or netball and soccer. The hand eye co-ordination required for rugby and the importance of holding the ball out in front is transferable from a sport such as Netball.

It was a delight to see such a newly formed team enjoying training and looking forward to their rugby future.
Next time we see them, we hope to interview them to see what its been like to take up rugby.
We wish them every success and look forward to our next installment on Ards RFC Ladies.
Their training sessions are held on Wednesdays at Ards RFC grounds from 6.30pm.
