Only we knew this was Ards Ladies first ever game of contact rugby we would have insisted that they had played rugby before. Rucking, lineout, scrum, pack and back line all functioned as you would expect. In fact they actually scored at least 1 try and put together some excellent phases of play.
All credit to Cooke/Malone who stepped up at short notice and put together a side to play. The Cooke/Malone ladies did not hold back and while they did win the game very comfortably the Ards Ladies took it to them at every opportunity.

To a girl they stepped up. The tackling was immense, fearless and displayed good technique combined with excellent attitude and aggressive strong work in the loose.
A very big well done to them. An emotional evening and it was thrilling for everyone to watch and be part of this piece of history at Hamilton Park. A truly superb evenings rugby and a joy to witness this team take their first steps into playing.
Well done to the coaches Ross & Ian who will tell you the ladies are easy to work with and have developed at an outstanding pace.
