“On the 19th Sep 2008, little Billy Douglas arrived in to this world. He arrived so quickly, that he went into shock! He was resusitated and we went home. As he was not sitting or crawling @ 10mths we went to our GP. Within one week, were were told the devestating news, that our baby had Brain Damage.
That was one of the worst times of our life as a family, because we had no clue at all! Billy’s two big brothers had not been so strong, with William going to heavan in 2003 and then Charlie joining him in 2006. Our life would never be the same again!

With nowhere to turn to and no support, we went home and after nearly a year searching for answers along with daily physio etc etc we stumbled across some pioneering surgey in America. We contacted our own peadiatric consultant, for more tests, to see if this would be good for Billy.
The brain scan came back and we were reffered! The operation is called Selective Dorsal Rhizotamey (S.D.R) and will be performed by the man himself Dr Parke. We have come so far with Billy so far, But Billy’s chances of ever walking unaided depend on this operation! It will mean either having a life in a wheelchair or a life walking! Simple to us as parents…… But this operation does not come cheap. £50,000 is what we need to raise for the operation. Although it’s alot of money to us, we feel that if we fundraise enough our baby will eventually be able to walk!
Our consultant once said “Billy will never be a first class footballer, but his brains and determination will carry him though life”. We hold on to that thought everyday. Billy does not want to be in a wheelchair, he constantly says “Mum, I need to walk”…… Walk he will do!!

Billy has a form of cerebral palsey that only effects his arms and legs. Its called Spastic Diplegia, he is one of the lucky ones as he can be fixed (at a cost)…
He is just a normal little 3yr old, full of life, bubbly and is as head strong as the rest lol.
Please please do whatever you can do, to help us to get our baby walking please……….”
