Ballyshanonn RFC 51 Finn Valley 5
Ballyshannon first fifteen are on a roll with a second win in a row over their county rivals Finn Valley at the Lake Side on Saturday. If this team had organized themselves like this at the start on the season they would be challenging for honours by now. This is the second week in a row that they out muscled ,out ran and out played the opposition. In fairness, Finn Valley travelled with a week side and surely they will have better days.
From the kick-off there was only one side in this game. Finn Valley rarely ventured in to the Ballyshannon half of the field . Early on Ballyshannon were encamped in the visitors territory yet found it hard to put scores on the board. Dropped balls and wrong options cost them tries when they had the line at their mercy. Mid-way through the first half the Ballyshannon forwards became dominate and from a ruck close to the Finn Valley line Enda Wyms got over for the first try. The home side settled down and further tries from Ellis Mc Guinness and Danial Mc Gullion gave Ballyshannon a healthy lead at half-time.
Ballyshannon were determined not to allow Finn Valley back in to the match and they done this by playing some entertaining rugby. Another six tries followed , the pick being Eoin Halidays sole run . Not to be out done the forwards got in on the act with tries by Gillespie, Mc Gurn and Killala. Mark Lyons got a try from full back and Mc Gullion got his usual brace of tries. Finn Valley never give up and were rewarded with a try close to the end. Ballyshannon should put a big effort to win their remaining games and finish the season on a high.
