It was the turn of Rainey Old Boys II to take centre stage last Saturday when they represented Magherafelt in the Provincial Towns’ Cup. Qualifying 1 side Dromore were the opposition for a first round tie and, while not the force of a few seasons back, the Barban Hill men made their experience tell in the third quarter to pull clear and head home 40-20 winners. Rainey competed well throughout, but made some costly errors. The forwards scrummaged well and put together some good drives, but their lineout play was a bit hit and miss. Overall, it was a commendable effort and Dromore had to up the tempo to put some light between the teams. |
