From Wednesday of this week every game in Ulster was on standby. Ice snow, minus degrees. But the sun rose on Saturday and grounds men across Ulster gave the verdict – GAME ON.
We travelled on Saturday morning to Bangor Grammar in the view that coastal clubs would thaw out faster than in land clubs. We arrived at 10.30 at Bangor to see three superb games and a hive of spectators all around. The games where good and then we headed to Shaws bridge and the day had got even better. All the while we where in anticipation for the big game of the day for InTouch – Queens Rugby I XV v Bective Rangers.
If ever their was a showdown this was it – bearing in mind there is 3/4s of the season to go!

A calm air of excitement rested at the pre-lunch dinner. Beactive sit high in the Div 2 AIL table, Queens are the new boys, first season after promotion, finding their feet.
We have a video clip to follow later in week.
Well, thats exactly what happened on Saturday. They found their feet alright! Absolutely superb flowing rugby, Queens dominated throughout and when Bective surged forward Queens defence was resolute. Bective were in no mood for a journey back to Dublin losing but thats exactly what happened. Queens where out standing, they played simple rugby, every single man broke the game line, they had 75% of the posession and thoroughly deserved the victory. It was the determination, commitment to be effective in every single attack and defence, organisation and skill that made this happen.
Brilliant game and we look forward to covering Queens for the rest of the season. Thankyou.
