Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Round Up Saturday 7th December 2024.
As well as the three Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup Round 2 games, alongside one Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup Round 3 game, being scheduled to take place during the week, the final Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Group Stage games, as well as a number of Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield and Trophy games and some 1stxv friendly games, were scheduled to take place on Saturday 7th December.
On Wednesday 4th December, one Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2ndxv Cup Round 3 game took place when Campbell College, Belfast entertained Foyle and Londonderry College in a game the Campbell College, Belfast team won by 40-0.
On the same afternoon, three Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup Round 2 games took place.
Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv played Royal Belfast Academical Institution 3rdxv in a game the Campbell College, Belfast 3rdxv won by 32-24.
Meanwhile, at Pirrie Park, Methodist College, Belfast 3rdxv hosted Wallace High School 4thxv in a game the Methodist College, Belfast 3rdxv won by 40-0.
At the same time, Portadown College 3rdxv hosted their near neighbours from Royal School, Armagh 3rdxv in a very closely contested game the Portadown College 3rdxv won by 22-21.
On Thursday 5th December, Civil Service RFC was to have been the venue when Our Lady and St Patrick’s College, Knock, 1stxv was scheduled to have played played Ballyclare High School in their Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup Round 2 game.
Unfortunately, this game fell victim to the weather conditions prevailing at the time and will be rescheduled to be played as soon as possible.
Saturday 7th December should have been a busy day with five Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup games, one Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield game, one Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy game, the twelve final Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup Group Stage games, as well as a number of 1stxv friendly games, all scheduled to take place.
In the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup Round 2 games Methodist College, Belfast 3rdxv was scheduled to have played Wallace High School 4thxv.
Methodist College, Belfast 5thxv was due to have played Campbell College, Belfast 4thxv.
Omagh Academy 3rdxv was scheduled to have played Methodist College, Belfast 4thxv.
Royal Belfast Academical Institution 4thxv was scheduled to have played Belfast Royal Academy 3rdxv.
Wallace High School 3rdxv was scheduled to have played Ballymena Academy 3rdxv.
In Group A of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup, Down High School was scheduled to have played Ballyclare High School.
Lurgan College was due to play Regent House School.
In Group B of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup, Dromore High School was to have hosted Bangor Grammar School
Rainey Endowed School was to have played Grosvenor Grammar School.
In Group C of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup. Coleraine Grammar School was scheduled to have played out a North West “Derby” game against Foyle and Londonderry College.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School was due to host Bangor Academy.
In Group D of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup, Dalriada School should have played Royal School, Dungannon.
Omagh Academy was due to host Banbridge Academy.
In Group E of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup, Larne Grammar School should have played Cambridge House Grammar School.
Royal School, Armagh was due to have played Limavady Grammar School.
In Group F of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Cup, Antrim Grammar School was due to play Belfast Royal Academy.
Portadown College should have played Friends’ School, Lisburn.
In the 3rd Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield, Royal School, Dungannon was due to play Regent House School.
In the 1st Round of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Trophy, Belfast High School hoped to have played Strabane Academy.
As well as the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3rdxv Cup and Schools’ Cup Group Stage games, alongside the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield and Trophy games, a number of friendly 1stxv fixtures should have taken place.
Carrickfergus Grammar School hoped to play Belfast High School.
Methodist College, Belfast was due to play Campbell College, Belfast on the perfectly prepared Pirrie Park Paddock Pitch.
Royal Belfast Academical Institution hoped to host St Michael’s College, Dublin.
Wallace High School was looking forward to playing Ballymena Academy.
However, the prevailing weather conditions brought on by the impact of Storm Darragh ensured that none of the games listed above took place on Saturday 7th December.
Quite a few of the postponed Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ competition games have been rescheduled for the incoming week.
