A glorious day for rugby and both teams were up for it -unfortunately for YMCA they lost a player to injury after only 5 minutes.
The teams traded scores in the first half and YMCA held a narrow lead until a try took Letterkenny ahead .
YMCA responded and scored again and the game became a good contest.
With the advantage of the extra man two tries from Letterkenny took them clear but even a man down the young YMCA team battled back and closed the gap. Letterkenny held the 7 point gap and YMCA could not get over the line-a breakaway try sealed the game for Letterkenny and they ended up at 32 v 20.Letterkenny will be well pleased at this result as it secures their top of the table position. YMCA will be disappointed but will take some heart from the fact that a man down and relatively inexperienced they took the game to Letterkenny. YMCA will improve during the season and will expect to overturn this result in the returning tie.
