Armagh v Ballymena- postponed

A day of frustration when the M1 was closed because of a security alert descended into farce when the party arrived at the Palace Grounds some hours late only to discover that the referee assigned by the Ulster Branch was in France refereeing something else. The Branch had neglected to inform either club of this or appoint a replacement. Armagh had laid on a very good lunch and had planned a presentation to a long standing member – that has been postponed as well. It is a round trip of 120 miles from Ballymena to Armagh, so a not inconsiderable amount of money was wasted on fuel on this wild goose chase. Perhaps some kind of compensation might be offered?
On what was a really good day for the Ulster Branch, the referee didn’t appear at Omagh to officiate at the 3rd XV game either. An Omagh club referee at least gave the players a game, which Ballymena lost.

On the other hand, the Under 15s had a good day. Read about it and the Fifths had to fight harder tha usual for their win
