Ricky Parker Photography A Story Of Chilli & Sarah

sarah“Don’t work with children or animals” is a saying I often hear, particularly when it comes to photography. I can understand why some might think this way….they can be unpredictable, they have no quarms about showing their raw emotion, & they make you earn their trust!

…Yet, the rewards can be priceless!!! Take a recent summers evening in the Craigantlet Hills where I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Chilli (& Sarah). The sun split the hills and made for the perfect background for Chilli & Sarah…they could have been riding off into the sunset…albeit Sarah had school the next day!

I dread the day Hollie (my 3yr old daughter) says ‘Daddy can I have a horse?’. Why? Because of the commitment & sacrifice needed..never mind the courage needed to ride a horse!

I have a new found respect for horse riders & owners – not only do they have such courage riding them but the commitment needed to take care of them day & night, summer through winter can only come from the love of the animal and the sport! Which is why I was so excited for Sarah’s Lifestyle Portrait session – it was more than photographing Sarah jumping fences (which I was thoroughly impressed by) – it was about capturing the bond and emotion between Sarah & Chilli. From the grooming, feeding & preparation in the stables…. to the fence jumping….to the galloping across open fields! It’s a hobby that shapes your life…it’s a lifestyle!

Check out some of the photos from Sarah’s session below. I love the moody black & white photos, yet the sunset really adds fantastic light to the outdoor shots. I hope you enjoy them.
