Enniskillen ladies kicked of the new season against Sligo in determined mood after a good preseason where a number of new players have been integrated into the team. Skins kicked off with the wind on their back and had the first score with less than two minutes on the clock. From the restart skins made their way down the pitch working through their game plan and eventually gained a penalty which was kicked to take a ten point lead. Again skins made their way down field from the restart and were playing some great rugby. Possession was lost just short of scoring again, Sligo gathered the ball and moved it wide and all of a sudden they broke through to score a length of the pitch try. Skins went on the attack again playing some good possession rugby gained another penalty only to be followed by another converted try to Sligo for them to take a 13 -14 lead, a lead that took them to half time.
The second half was all one way traffic as Enniskillen totally dominated possession and territory but as with the first half Sligo broke a tackle and ran a try in from deep inside their half. Skins kept going and brought the game back with another try, 18-21. Skins got back on the attack but two more breaks from deep resulted in Sligo scores and left the final score 18-35. Skins probably will never play another game where they have 80% possession and territory and end up on the wrong side of the score. CLICK HERE for the shots
On the whole skins should be very happy with their performance as they were missing three senior players, made a number of positional changes and introduced a number of new players to match day. Skins coaches will be very happy with most things especially rucking and scrumming which were very powerful and physical.
Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 630pm, any new players who would like to start please come along as the season is only starting.
Next Sunday Enniskillen Ladies are playing away at Cooke rugby, Belfast. Kick off 2.30pm al support welcome.
