What does a Scotch man, a Welsh man and an Ulster man have in common?………Ards RFC!!
The new coaching team at Ards Rugby Club of a Scots man, a Welsh man and an Ulster man namely Stewart Porter, Gerry Flynn and Scott Young introduced themselves to the players at Hamilton Park on Thursday night.
The new coaching team were welcomed to the club by current President Mike Spence and incoming President John Barclay.
Stewart is well known in local circles through his playing exploits with Malone, Ulster and Scotland.
Gerry is well known at Ards being a former hooker for the 1st XV after arriving from London Welsh and then coached some of the most successful Youth teams at Ards.
Scott is the current 1st XV Captain and backs coach and a former Ulster player having played 44 times for them.
The new coaching team outlined their vision for the incoming season and beyond.
The role of Team Manager has still to be confirmed, Neil Workman and Stevie Nutt will be the interim Team Manager

In January current Head Coach Mervyn Tweed and Team Manager Robin Johnston indicated their intention of stepping aside at the end of the current season.
Mervyn and Robin have been involved in these roles on 2 occasions over the last 12 years, the first period between 2001- 09 and the second period from 2010 – present.
Current assistant coach Alan Benson has indicated his intention to remain coaching in some capacity in the club.
Mervyn, Alan and Robin discussed their intentions with the players of the Senior squad and have assisted in the selection of their replacements.
